Thoughts for today

Well first off I making a promise to everyone that I will stop having such a boring blog and start putting more pictures up.Tomorrow... or I hope tomorrow I can start my painting projects for my Warhammer 40,000 models. That was one of the reasons I started this blog, not to show of my awesome, read mediocre, painting skills but rather to force myself to actually finish the pile of men I have and I do literally mean pile.

Figure 1: Pile of semi painted models

Well apart from from the infantry I still have armoured vehicles in various stages of completion. God I think I have ADD when it comes to painting. Then again I have add when it comes to everything I do in my life.

Figure 2: TANKS!

Ok enough with the geekiness and on with the thoughts for today!

My first thought was of how seeing a familiar face in an unfamiliar place is one of the most unique and special experiences one will experience in their lifetimes. Having experienced this from both sides and also having watched people I have only realised now that this is indeed a very... indescribable experience.

Imagine yourself in a new place, maybe new campus, office, or a different country all together, the loneliness and the sense of not having your own place or niche as it may be is overwhelming. Then as fate would have it you make your first friend or acquaintance. From there you fulfill your primal need to have company. From then on whenever you go to this new foreign place you will always look for this individual, they become your anchor and they help make it a lot more bearable to live.

The magic lies not just in the forming of this relationship, but also in how once you have made this friend when you don't see them you feel the crushing sense of despair but the minute you see that all changes and the clouds seem to part. Now watching someone go through this you can almost see the changes. When they are alone they seem lost, meek, and sad in a way, once they see their friend they seem almost like a completely different person filled with energy and liveliness.

It must be truly ingrained into our human psyche to want the company of others or simply that we seek familiarity. Just read Ernest Hemingway's "A Clean Well-Light Place" and you will see what I mean. So as a lesson to all you readers when you see someone lost like that be the person that helps them through it, they will always be grateful for it.

Well thats all for today, and I guess this is a blessing considering I put more effort into this than what I put into my work today. XD I guess work will always lose out

PS

My desktop got fried again and I was just about to play Team Fortress 2! DAMN!
